Howdy readers! What a great week, I feel utterly refreshed. I am on my way to Orlando, for a business trip, but this one has the added bonus of being at Disney and a lot of fun activities planned.

This week I was able to get seven books in, not sure how that happened, but I am glad I did. Here is a quick recap of everything thatI read.

How We Fight For Our Lives – This was a memoir about a young African American male living in the south coming out. It is very touching at times and just a really beautiful story. Published Date, October 8, 2019

The Testaments – The long awaited sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. It was everything I expected and more. This continues to be an extremely dark story, but there is finally a light at the end of this tunnel.

Degrees of Difficulty – This was just a beautiful story about a family who is dealing with the youngest child/sibling who has a severe handicap. Told in multiple POV’s, the author does a great job telling each family members story. This is a book that you will need to have your tissue box handy, but the story is well worth it.

Talking to Strangers – This social commentary on the how we treat strangers and how it affects specific points in history is so important. Do yourself a favor and get this one audiobook, it is so worth it. I had to take breaks listening to this, because of these ripped from headline stories. It is absolutely heartbreaking at times. This should be mandatory reading.

Lock Every Door – I had high hopes for this one, however this one fell flat for me. I found myself losing interest in this mystery. I wanted something spectacular and it just was missing that element.

Waiting for Tom Hanks – This was a cute rom-com, and not much more. If you love Nora Ephron you will love how the author pays homage to her. This totally felt like this would be a great Hallmark movie.

The Body Lies – Another psychological thriller that missed the mark for me. Maybe I need to re-evaluate this genre for me. The premise was strong, but there is an element of strange that was just too strange for me.

Hope you all had a great week, tell me what you read this week.

You really can say I am an obsessed reader as I read 200-300 books per year. I love Literary Fiction, Memoirs (I don't really care what kind), Mysteries and Thrillers. Once in awhile I will thrown in some YA and Romance. When I am not reading, I am a Sales Engineer for a software company, and I take care of my three cats with my husband. I love music, which my college degree is in. Looking forward to share my thoughts on all things reading.
