Happy New Year to everyone! I hope all of you had a relaxing holiday season, with lot’s of reading and coziness. We stayed home pretty much these past two week so I was able to get some good reading in and a lot of other things that I have trouble getting to during normal times of the year. I am still very excited by the Advanced Reader’s Copies I am getting, and can’t wait to see what this year brings.

Here is a quick recap of what I read this past week….

The Art of Falling by Danielle McLaughlin – This is a multi-layer literary fiction book centered around a woman, with martial troubles, a mystery at work and unexpected person that comes back into her life. The writing is riveting and I loved the entire book. There is a lot to discuss here, and this might make a great read for any book club.

The Survivors by Jane Harper: I know Jane Harper is a favorite for a lot of reader’s, however I just don’t like her style of writing. Reading is subjective, and that something she gives to so many readers, is just not there for me. I will sat this, the early reviews, say this is one of her better books, and I can agree, with that statement.

The Late Bloomers’ Club by Louise Miller – This was a book club pick for Modern Mrs. Darcy, and I don’t think I would have read this, otherwise. This is a sweet, chick-lit book that centers around one woman in a small New England town. There is nothing unexpected in this story, but I still found myself smiling throughout.

Minus Me by Mameve Medwed – This was such a surprising read for me. This story opens with a woman who just has come back from the doctor, and she has been given some terrible news. She decides to exclude her family and friends from this information, and this leads to a hilarious tender story that will leave you feeling so good when it is done.

The Ocean House by Mary-Beth Hughes – This is a book of interconnected short stories taking place on the Jersey Shore. What I can say there were some amazing stories, and some just ok. I will say there is more than enough to stick with this collection.

I hope you all read some wonderful books this past week. Feel free to share your favorites of the week. Until next time..,,,

You really can say I am an obsessed reader as I read 200-300 books per year. I love Literary Fiction, Memoirs (I don't really care what kind), Mysteries and Thrillers. Once in awhile I will thrown in some YA and Romance. When I am not reading, I am a Sales Engineer for a software company, and I take care of my three cats with my husband. I love music, which my college degree is in. Looking forward to share my thoughts on all things reading.
